Jared A. Jefferson J.D. ’09 has been appointed to serve as a judge in the Monterey County Superior Court. Jefferson previously served as a chief deputy public defender at the Monterey County Public Defender’s Office, where he’s held several positions since 2015.

Alen Mirza ’09 published his first book in July, A Practical Guide to Using International Human Rights and Criminal Law Procedures, with University of San Francisco School of Law Professor Connie de la Vega.

Alicia K. Gonzales ’09 presented the paper “Yoga, Nationalism, and Bio-Political Resistance: Understanding the Resurgence of Haṭha Yoga during India’s Independence Movement” at the American Academy of Religion conference in March. She studies Sanskrit, South Asian traditions, and yoga at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.

Maggie Beidelman ’09 of AJ+ won a TV/video longform storytelling award from the Society of Professional Journalists for “Chinese Food: An All-American Cuisine.” The video also won a National Association of Black Journalists Digital Media Award as well as a Northern California Emmy.
